Running has become Vanessa’s best mental, physical and spiritual form of self-expression. Despite a brutal attack and rape while on her daily jog in 2010 and other physical injuries, she presses on and continues to run every day. She is known as "The West Hartford Jogger", and her assailant was captured and sentenced to 18 years in prison in 2013. Vanessa continues to speak about her experience in the hopes of inspiring victims to come forward and end their silence.

Your fundraising efforts go directly toward empowering survivors of sexual crimes to find their voice, advance their healing and education others through our programs and services including:

• Escape Alive Survival Skills - Training women and girls to stay safe through self-defense tips and techniques

• Community Outreach - Educating society overall though community efforts

• Duty Trumps Doubt - Changing first responders' perspectives to better understand victims of sexual crimes

• Safe Student Initiative - Teaching prevention methods and skills to students through middle school to collet

• Survivors Speak - Empowering survivors to educate audience of all kinds.
